Gardening and Cooking Classes for Kids We had another great year with the students and teachers from Colin MacDonald Community School. They enjoyed many cooking classes but our big project for this year was designing and constructing a birdhouse fence for their Pick ‘n Eat Garden. Thank you to John Heaslip and Jim Sweetman and all the volunteers for all their work with this project.

Aging in Community is a North American movement in which older adults take responsibility with others for the quality of their own later lives by building connections amongst each other and with other generations, celebrating our INTERDEPENDENCE and how to foster better community connections; where we live and those with whom we spend our lives — our neighbours, extended family, and friends.

This place has become a resting hub for the neighbourhood, and a distinguish feature of St John's Lutheran church. During the 2018 Hamilton SuperCrawl Lutheran Women's group of St John's set up a cooling station for the passingbys. |
English Conversation Cafe (ECC)
The ECC for newcomers meets in Wednesday evenings. The goal is to help people, who want to improve their English to get together in a safe place, where they can feel welcome and comfortable to practice speaking English with those who know this language well. |
This active group of women meet to sew and bundle kits for Canadian Lutheran World Relief. They also sort and price items for their seasonal garage sales and annual Christmas sale. Several community organizations also benefit from their collecting of household items and clothing. A pause for a coffee break allows for a time of prayer and concerns for members and the wider community.
